According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft could be preparing a remake of the original Assassin’s Creed, the game that started it all back in 2007.
The report comes from insider Tom Henderson, who claims that the project is either in early development or being seriously considered within Ubisoft.
Back to where it all began
The original Assassin’s Creed introduced players to Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and set the foundation for one of gaming’s biggest franchises.
However, despite its legacy, the first game is often seen as:
Repetitive in mission structure
Limited in gameplay variety
Outdated compared to modern entries
A full remake would give Ubisoft the chance to rebuild the experience from the ground up, potentially using newer technology and design philosophies.
What could a remake look like?
While no official details have been confirmed, a remake could include:
Fully modernized combat and stealth systems
Expanded missions and side content
Reworked open-world cities like Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus
Improved narrative depth and character development
There’s also a strong possibility Ubisoft would align the remake with its newer engine and systems seen in recent titles like ANVIL from Assassin's Creed Shadows and now in Black Flag Resynced.
Part of a bigger Assassin’s Creed strategy?
Ubisoft has already shown interest in revisiting older titles, and with multiple AC projects in development—including Hexe—a remake of the original game would fit into a broader long-term strategy.
Bringing back Altaïr’s story could:
Introduce new players to the origins of the Brotherhood
Capitalize on nostalgia from longtime fans
Provide a more modern entry point into the series timeline
Not confirmed—but highly plausible
As with all reports from Insider Gaming, this information should be taken as unofficial for now. Ubisoft has not publicly confirmed the remake.
Still, given the current trend of remakes across the industry, revisiting the first Assassin’s Creed feels like a natural next step.
If true, this could be one of the most exciting AC projects yet—especially for fans who’ve been waiting to see Altaïr’s journey brought to modern standards.
