Gameplay footage from EA Motive’s upcoming Iron Man game has leaked online, revealing an early look at combat, flight, armor customization and several potential characters and locations – and Motive has since confirmed that the footage is legitimate.

After nearly four years of very little official information, we’ve finally seen what EA Motive’s Iron Man game looks like in action – although certainly not in the way the developer intended.

Around two and a half minutes of work-in-progress footage has appeared online, seemingly originating from a recent internal playtest.

The footage carries an “AUG26” watermark, suggesting it may have been recorded during an August 2026 testing session designed to gather feedback.

Most importantly, Motive Studio has now confirmed that the leaked footage is genuine.

EA’s Iron Man Leak Shows Combat and Flying

The leaked footage is clearly from an unfinished version of the game.

Numerous assets and environments remain incomplete, meaning the visuals shouldn’t be treated as representative of the final product.

What it does provide is our first substantial look at some of the gameplay systems Motive is developing.

Unsurprisingly, flight and combat are major components.

Iron Man can be seen moving through environments using his suit while engaging enemies, giving us an early indication of how Motive intends to translate Tony Stark’s abilities into gameplay.

The footage also appears to show armor customization, potentially allowing players to modify or develop Iron Man’s suit throughout the game.

Considering Motive previously described the project as a single-player action-adventure game designed to capture the complexity and charisma of Tony Stark, extensive suit progression would certainly make sense.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier and Several Characters Appear

Beyond the basic gameplay, fans have already started examining the leaked footage for potential story details.

The footage seemingly reveals the game’s version of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, while Japan appears to be among the locations players could potentially visit.

Several recognizable Marvel characters also appear to be represented or referenced.

Those seemingly include Pepper Potts, James Rhodes and Obadiah Stane, while fans have also identified characters who could potentially be Madame Masque, Crimson Dynamo and Justin Hammer.

Some of those identifications remain uncertain given the unfinished nature of the footage, so they shouldn’t all be treated as confirmed characters just yet.

Still, if accurate, the selection gives us an interesting idea of the corner of the Marvel universe Motive could be exploring.

Iron Man Still Appears to Be Early in Development

Perhaps the biggest surprise is just how unfinished the project appears.

EA officially announced its Iron Man game back in September 2022, meaning the project has been publicly known for almost four years.

Despite that, the leaked build contains numerous unfinished assets and clearly remains a work in progress.

That doesn’t necessarily tell us exactly how far the overall game is from completion. Development builds and playtests frequently use incomplete assets while teams concentrate on specific gameplay mechanics.

However, EA has still not officially shown gameplay from Iron Man or provided a release window.

Reports have previously suggested the project encountered difficulties during development, making the apparent state of the leaked build particularly interesting.

Don’t Confuse This With the Other Leaked Iron Man Game

Interestingly, this isn’t the first Iron Man gameplay footage to appear online recently.

Gameplay from Avalanche Studios’ canceled Iron Man project also surfaced earlier this month, but that game has no connection to EA Motive’s current project.

Motive’s Iron Man is part of EA’s wider agreement with Marvel to develop multiple games based on its characters.

The deal also included EA’s Black Panther project, although that game was ultimately canceled.

According to previous reporting, leaked development footage from Black Panther showed it at a broadly similar stage to what we’re now seeing from Iron Man.

For Motive, the priority will now be continuing development while dealing with the unexpected public appearance of footage that was clearly never intended to represent the finished game.

And that’s worth remembering when judging what has leaked.

This isn’t an official gameplay reveal or carefully prepared vertical slice. It’s unfinished development footage from a project that remains in production.

Still, after years of silence, it’s our clearest indication yet of what EA Motive’s Iron Man could eventually become.
