Civilization 7 Is Getting an Atomic Age and Space Race Expansion in 2027

Firaxis has revealed major plans for Civilization 7 in 2027, including a free Atomic Age update called Arc of Tomorrow and the game’s first paid expansion, Earthrise.

The new content will push Civilization 7 further into the modern era and beyond, introducing everything from nuclear technology and contemporary warfare to space exploration and global environmental threats.

Arc of Tomorrow Adds the Atomic Age for Free

The Arc of Tomorrow update introduces Civilization 7’s fourth age, covering the period from approximately 1950 into the near future.

Players can expect modern urban architecture, new military units and weapons, expanded nuclear energy mechanics and additional civilization leaders. Familiar historical figures will also return, including Gandhi.

Most importantly, Arc of Tomorrow will be free for all Civilization 7 owners when it launches in 2027.

Earthrise Takes Civilization 7 Into Space

Firaxis also announced Earthrise, Civilization 7’s first paid expansion.

Space exploration will play a major role throughout the different ages. Players will begin by mapping celestial bodies before eventually launching Moon expeditions, establishing space agencies and utilizing resources from other planets.

Earthrise will also introduce additional challenges for civilizations on Earth, including natural disasters and global warming, forcing players to adapt as their societies advance technologically.

Unlike Arc of Tomorrow, Earthrise does not yet have a confirmed release date. Firaxis plans to reveal more details about both additions as Civilization 7 continues expanding throughout 2027.
