The Legend of Zelda Movie Will Tell an Original Story Inspired by 40 Years of Games

Nintendo has revealed new details about its live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, confirming that it will tell an original story inspired by ideas, characters and concepts from across the franchise’s 40-year history.

The update came during the The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct, gdje Nintendo also confirmed that the movie’s official title is simply The Legend of Zelda.

Zelda Movie Won’t Directly Adapt a Single Game

Rather than recreating the story of Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild or another individual Zelda game, the movie will feature an entirely original narrative.

Nintendo says the story draws inspiration from the wider franchise, potentially allowing the filmmakers to combine familiar elements from different eras of Zelda without being tied to one game’s plot.

More details about the story will be revealed closer to release.
