Valor Mortis will launch for $39.99 on October 13, 2026, with developer One More Level deliberately choosing a lower price as it prepares to compete during a crowded fall release period.
The first-person soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner puts players in the role of a former soldier in Napoleon’s army who returns from the dead, combining brutal combat with supernatural abilities and a dark mystery.
One More Level is targeting approximately 20 hours for the main story.
Why Valor Mortis Costs $39.99
In an official post on X, the developers explained that they believe Valor Mortis has the quality and production values to compete with full-priced games, but also recognize how many major releases are fighting for players’ time and money this fall.
The studio has also taken a player-friendly approach to pre-orders, saying it wants people to make their purchase decision once they have “a full picture of Valor Mortis’ quality, creativity and craft at launch.”
The standard edition will therefore launch at $39.99.
Major Story DLC Coming in 2027
One More Level also announced a $59.99 Deluxe Edition, which includes access to a major story DLC planned for 2027.
The expansion will tell a new story set within the world of Valor Mortis. The Deluxe Edition also includes the La Grande Armée Weapon Skin Pack, featuring skins for the Pistol, Blunderbuss, Musket, Claymore, Rapier and Sabre, with three additional weapon skin packs planned.
Paid DLC won’t be the only post-launch support, either. The developers confirmed they have “multiple free updates planned” that will add more ways to experience the game in the weeks and months following release.
