Valve has released a major Counter-Strike 2 update introducing a new 3v3 Rush Mode, silent reloads, expanded crosshair customization and, surprisingly, collectible chickens that players can raise.

The update arrived without a major advance announcement and brings several gameplay changes alongside one of the strangest additions Counter-Strike has seen in years.

New 3v3 Rush Mode and Silent Reloads

The biggest gameplay addition is Rush Mode, a fast-paced 3v3 mode built around extremely short 40-second rounds.

Teams compete for control of a central tower across randomly selected maps, with players needing consecutive victories across different maps to ultimately win the match.

Valve has also introduced a new silent reload mechanic. Instead of tapping the reload button normally, players can hold R to perform a slower reload that doesn’t produce the usual sound, potentially allowing for more tactical plays without revealing their position.

Crosshair customization has also been expanded with additional shapes including dots, circles and squares, alongside new options for adjusting colors and transparency.

Other changes include a new map voting system and clearer indicators showing where a player’s shots actually land.

Yes, You Can Now Raise Chickens in Counter-Strike 2

The update’s most unusual feature involves Counter-Strike’s iconic chickens.

Players can now receive an egg through Weekly Drops, which eventually hatches into a chick and grows into a chicken or rooster.

The birds can be named, petted and photographed, effectively introducing a small virtual pet system into Counter-Strike 2.

Valve has even created 35 different chicken appearances, giving players another collectible element to chase alongside the game’s enormous weapon skin economy.

Rush Mode might be the biggest gameplay addition in the update, but Valve somehow managed to make raising a Counter-Strike chicken one of its most memorable new features.
