Sony has added a new animated The Last of Us wallpaper to the PS5 Welcome Hub, featuring artwork from both games alongside several animated effects.

The new background arrives around The Last of Us Day celebrations, giving PS5 owners another customization option for the Welcome Hub displayed when starting the console.

It combines artwork from The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II Remastered, bringing characters and imagery from both games together in a single background.

The Last of Us Wallpaper Includes Animated Effects

Unlike a standard static background, the new theme includes several subtle animations.

Players will notice birds flying across the screen and flashes of lightning, adding movement to the artwork while navigating the PS5 Welcome Hub.

The wallpaper can be selected through the Welcome Hub’s existing customization options alongside Sony’s other available backgrounds.

Its release comes as Naughty Dog prepares additional celebrations for The Last of Us Day, including a charity stream scheduled for September 28.

The studio has also teased a partnership announcement, a new collaboration and several digital surprises, although it hasn’t revealed exactly what else players can expect.

For now, the animated Welcome Hub wallpaper is one of the first digital additions released around this year’s The Last of Us Day celebrations, with further announcements expected on September 28.
