Capcom has revealed that 92.4% of its video game sales are now digital, with physical copies accounting for just 7.6% of total sales.
The figures come from Capcom’s latest financial report, highlighting the growing dominance of digital distribution across PC and consoles.

Capcom Expects Digital Sales to Reach 95.4%
According to the company’s fiscal year 2026 second-quarter results, game sales were distributed as follows:
- PC digital sales: 57.1%
- Console digital sales: 35.3%
- Physical game sales: 7.6%
Capcom expects digital sales to increase further, projecting 95.4% digital distribution by the end of the next quarter. Physical copies would consequently represent just 4.6% of sales.
However, these figures require some context.
Capcom continues to generate substantial sales from its extensive back catalogue, including Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter.
During the previous quarter, Devil May Cry 5 reportedly outsold Onimusha: Way of the Sword, while Monster Hunter World performed better than Monster Hunter Wilds.
These older titles benefit heavily from digital storefronts and recurring discounts, contributing to Capcom’s unusually high digital sales percentage.
The figures illustrate the industry’s shift toward digital distribution, although they do not necessarily reflect purchasing habits across every publisher.
