IGN has been hit by another round of layoffs, affecting employees across multiple departments and several long-time members of the gaming website’s team.
Prema izvješću od Kotaku, the September 14 cuts include prominent video hosts Brian Altano i Seth Macy, alongside producers, editors and other employees. The full number of affected workers remains unclear.
Long-Time IGN Employees Among Those Laid Off
Altano had worked at IGN since 2009 and became one of the recognizable faces of the outlet, including as a long-time host of its PlayStation podcast, Podcast Beyond.
Macy, meanwhile, worked as a senior commerce editor and regularly appeared on Nintendo Voice Chat.
Senior manager of tech coverage Bo Moore also confirmed that he was affected, revealing that the layoffs happened on the same day his team published extensive coverage of Valve’s Steam Frame.
“My team had a huge content day today on IGN, covering the launch of Valve’s Steam Frame. So this seems like a good time as any to say that I was affected by today’s layoffs.”
The cuts reportedly affected multiple departments, although IGN had not provided further details on the overall scale at the time of the original report.
IGN Creators Guild Responds to Layoffs
The IGN Creators Guild later confirmed that four union members were laid off, alongside additional employees elsewhere in the company.
“Today was an awful day at IGN. We were blindsided by the layoff of four union members and many more people across the organization who contributed years of their careers to making IGN an unparalleled voice in games and entertainment.”
The guild said producers, editors, hosts and other roles were among those affected and expressed concern about the repeated reductions.
“With each successive layoff, core parts of IGN’s operation continue to be stripped away.”
This isn’t IGN’s first round of layoffs in 2026. A smaller number of employees, including engineers, were reportedly cut earlier this year shortly after IGN Live.
IGN owner Ziff Davis has also made cuts across its gaming media portfolio since acquiring several outlets in 2024, including Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun.
For now, the exact total number of employees affected by the latest IGN layoffs has not been confirmed.
