Kingdom Hearts 4 Is Being Developed by the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Studio

Kingdom Hearts 4 and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation are being developed under the same Square Enix studio, with Final Fantasy 7 director Naoki Hamaguchi confirming that both major 2027 releases are under his watch.

Hamaguchi revealed that Creative Studio 1, , Square Enix team responsible for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, is also developing Kingdom Hearts 4.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Is Under Naoki Hamaguchi’s Watch

Speaking to Deadline, Hamaguchi discussed Square Enix‘s plans for 2027 and confirmed that both games are being developed within his studio.

“Between Final Fantasy VII Revelation and Kingdom Hearts IV, those are massive titles that are going to push that. And both are being developed in my own studio, Creative Studio 1.”

Hamaguchi added that both projects are now under his watch and that he will be helping push them forward.

The confirmation gives us a clearer picture of the development structure behind Kingdom Hearts 4, which is currently scheduled for 2027 alongside Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

Square Enix Is Also Considering More Final Fantasy Adaptations

Hamaguchi also discussed the possibility of bringing Final Fantasy properties to film or television.

While nothing new has been officially announced, he confirmed that Square Enix continues to explore both live-action and animated adaptations across its major franchises.

“Across all of the Final Fantasy properties and IPs, we’re always looking for the best way to bring them to the audience and for opportunities like this with them.”

For now, Square Enix’s immediate focus remains on its two major Creative Studio 1 projects, with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation and Kingdom Hearts 4 both planned for 2027.
