METRO Redux Gets Free Next-Gen Update With 4K and 120 FPS

METRO 2033 Redux and METRO Last Light Redux are receiving a free Next-Gen Update this month, adding native PS5 and Xbox Series X|S support alongside 4K textures, higher frame rates and several visual improvements.

The update launches October 22, 2026, on PC and October 29 on consoles, and will be free for existing owners of both games.

4A Games stresses that this isn’t a full remaster or remake. Instead, the update preserves the original METRO Redux experience while introducing improvements designed for modern hardware.

METRO Redux Supports 4K at 60 FPS and 120 FPS

On consoles, METRO Redux will support native 4K at 60 FPS or upscaled 4K at 120 FPS on compatible displays.

Players can also expect 4K textures, improved animations and audio, richer environmental detail, higher-quality lighting, shadows and particle effects, alongside community-requested bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

PS5 Pro receives PSSR support, while PlayStation players also get DualSense Adaptive Triggers. Xbox Series X features TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing, with Xbox platforms also supporting Spatial Audio and Impulse Triggers.

The PC update adds DLSS and Spatial Audio support, while Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Handheld support are also being introduced.

Alongside the update, 4A Games announced that the METRO franchise has now sold 50 million copies worldwide.

The free upgrade arrives ahead of the next major entry, METRO 2039, which is scheduled to release on February 4, 2027.
