Capcom has revealed a major new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, showcasing its post-game story, new monsters, the Skybound Eyrie location and fresh gameplay mechanics ahead of the expansion’s 2027 release.
The latest look at Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance arrived during PlayStation’s September State of Play, although Capcom stopped short of announcing a specific release date.
Instead, the expansion remains scheduled for 2027.
Ascendance Takes Place Years After Monster Hunter Wilds
Ascendance takes place after the events of the base game and features a significant time skip, with familiar characters and locations changing as several years pass.
The arrival of the Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung causes massive devastation, forcing the Expedition to prepare for its eventual return.
Those preparations ultimately lead to the construction of the Madoi Stronghold.
As the mist created by the dragon’s arrival begins to disappear, players will also discover Skybound Eyrie, a new location situated above the clouds.
New Elder Dragons and Gundoraja Revealed
The changing world brings new ecological disturbances, expanded Guardian monster habitats and the emergence of additional Elder Dragons.
Among the newcomers is Gundoraja, a completely new monster capable of manipulating storms.
Lao-Shan Lung will naturally play a major role in the expansion as well, with its arrival serving as the catalyst for Ascendance’s story.
Boost Bracer Expands Combat
Hunters will gain access to a new piece of equipment called the Boost Bracer.
The Bracer temporarily enhances the hunter’s abilities while amplifying the individual characteristics and strengths of all 14 weapon types, adding another layer to combat and character builds.
Capcom has also released a Monster Hunter Wilds prologue demo for players interested in trying the game.
To access Ascendance, existing players will need to complete the Awakening From a Dream quest and reach Hunter Rank 40.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance launches in 2027. Capcom has not yet announced a specific release date.
