Moss Developer Polyarc Shuts Down After Nearly 12 Years

Polyarc, the Seattle-based studio best known for the acclaimed Moss series, has announced that it is shutting down after nearly 12 years of game development.

The studio confirmed the closure in a statement on LinkedIn, saying that active development is winding down and its team members are now saying their farewells.

Polyarc Confirms Studio Closure

Polyarc thanked its developers and the players who supported its games throughout the studio’s history.

“After nearly 12 years riding the joyous rollercoaster of emotions that is making video games, our time together has come to an end. As we wind down active development, we are saying our farewells to each other.”

The company added that its work is now finished and encouraged other studios to consider hiring the developers affected by the closure. Polyarc has also shared a spreadsheet containing professional contact information for team members looking for new opportunities.

“Bringing surprise and delight to those who played our games has been a privilege. Thank you to everyone at Polyarc; our work is now finished.”

Polyarc Was Best Known for Moss

Founded nearly 12 years ago, Polyarc became particularly well known for Moss, its adventure series starring Quill.

The franchise established Polyarc as one of the more recognizable developers working with VR, while its games later expanded beyond their original virtual reality releases.

Polyarc did not provide a specific reason for the studio’s closure in its announcement.

Its shutdown adds another developer to the growing list of studios affected by closures and layoffs across the games industry in 2026, bringing an end to almost 12 years of development at the company.
