A major leadership change has hit Techland<\/a> as longtime Dying Light<\/a> director Tymon Smektala<\/a> officially announced his departure from the studio after more than a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smektala had been with Techland since 2013 and most recently served as Franchise Director for nearly four years, helping guide the future of the Dying Light<\/em> universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Key Figure Behind Dying Light<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Smektala originally joined Techland as a game designer before gradually taking on larger production and leadership roles throughout the franchise\u2019s growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, he became one of the most recognizable faces behind the series, regularly appearing in developer updates, interviews, and community discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a farewell message shared on social media, Smektala reflected on his time at the studio and thanked both the developers and the community for helping shape the franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been an incredible journey, and I\u2019m proud of what we\u2019ve built.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He also praised the Dying Light<\/em> fanbase, calling their passion and feedback the \u201cNorth Star\u201d that helped guide the series over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dying Light: The Beast Was His Final Major Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Smektala\u2019s final major contribution to the franchise was Dying Light: The Beast<\/a>, which recently brought back original protagonist Kyle Crane<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interestingly, Smektala previously revealed that The Beast<\/em> was internally viewed almost as a spiritual Dying Light 3<\/em>, signaling the beginning of a new era for the series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also previously discussed scrapped ideas like Dying Light: Hellrunners<\/em>, a project that ultimately never entered full production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Future of the Franchise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although Smektala is leaving, he stated that the franchise remains \u201cin great hands\u201d and expressed excitement about seeing where the series goes next as a fan himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
