Nintendo<\/a> president Shuntaro Furukawa has addressed the recently announced price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2<\/a> and promised players that the company plans to offset the higher cost with a stronger lineup of games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During Nintendo\u2019s latest financial earnings briefing, the company confirmed that the Switch 2 will receive a price increase across multiple regions starting later this year. In the United States, the console\u2019s price will rise by $50<\/strong>, while several Asian markets will also see increases to Nintendo Switch Online<\/a> membership prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nintendo Apologizes for the Price Hike<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during a recent investor call, Furukawa apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused by the price changes while explaining that rising production and operational costs made the decision unavoidable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe sincerely apologize to our customers for the considerable inconvenience and trouble this will cause,\u201d Furukawa stated. \u201cWhile we wanted to prioritize a wide adoption, it was challenging to bear the rising costs over a long period.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

According to Furukawa, the updated pricing still does not fully account for all of Nintendo\u2019s increasing costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A \u201cRobust\u201d Switch 2 Game Lineup Planned<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To help justify the higher price point, Nintendo says it plans to deliver a \u201crobust\u201d software lineup for the platform over the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the rumored and anticipated titles are a new take on Star Fox<\/a>, potentially inspired by Star Fox 64<\/em>, as well as the long-rumored remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fans are also still waiting for Nintendo\u2019s next major 3D Mario title. However, industry insider NateTheHate recently suggested players may not see that game until 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the next generation of Pok\u00e9mon games \u2014 reportedly titled Pok\u00e9mon Wind<\/em> i Pok\u00e9mon Waves<\/em> \u2014 is also expected to arrive in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Switch 2 Price Increase Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nintendo officially confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2<\/a> will increase in price from $449.99 to $499.99<\/strong> in the United States beginning September 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

European pricing will rise from \u20ac469.99 to \u20ac499.99<\/strong>, while Canadian pricing will increase from $629.99 CAD to $679.99 CAD<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
