Helldivers 2 <\/a>is joining the PlayStation<\/a> Plus Game Catalog<\/strong>, giving Extra and Premium subscribers access to Arrowhead Game Studios’ hugely successful co-op shooter at no additional cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PlayStation Plus release arrives alongside the new Devoid of Liberty update<\/strong>, which introduces fresh missions, mutated enemies, expanded progression, and SEAF soldiers who can now join Helldivers directly on the battlefield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a substantial update for a game that has continued to expand since its original 2024 launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helldivers 2 Joins PlayStation Plus Game Catalog<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Helldivers 2 will be available to download through the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog<\/strong> starting today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The addition should introduce another wave of players to the Galactic War more than two years after the game’s original release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arrowhead is also giving the PlayStation community a collective challenge to celebrate the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Players need to eliminate 500 million enemies by August 18<\/strong>. If the community successfully reaches that target, four special Helldivers-themed PlayStation avatars will be unlocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Existing players aren’t being left without something new to do, either, as the PlayStation Plus arrival coincides with the release of Devoid of Liberty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helldivers 2 Devoid of Liberty Adds New Missions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Devoid of Liberty update<\/strong> expands the ongoing war against the Illuminate with several new mission types and objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helldivers will be tasked with attacking and destroying Illuminate spires and gateways<\/strong>, conducting data reconnaissance operations, and infiltrating Illuminate structures alongside their squads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New secondary objectives have also been introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These include eliminating dangerous Void mutations<\/strong>, extracting valuable materials for research, and opening secondary extraction zones that can help squads escape from operations more quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combined with the new enemies, these missions are designed to make Illuminate operations even more unpredictable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Mutated Enemies Join the Fight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Devoid of Liberty introduces several dangerous mutated organisms, including The Wretch<\/strong> and The Crusher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wretch relies on speed and mobility. It can quickly overwhelm poorly prepared Helldivers while using its agility to avoid incoming counterattacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Crusher sits at the opposite end of the spectrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This heavily built mutation is capable of absorbing significant amounts of punishment while also dealing devastating damage, making it a much more direct threat during combat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Players will need to adapt their loadouts and squad tactics accordingly when these new mutations appear during missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEAF Platoons Can Now Fight Alongside Helldivers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the more interesting additions is expanded support from the Super Earth Armed Forces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEAF platoons can now arrive on the battlefield aboard dropships and actively assist Helldivers during operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than Super Earth’s conventional military remaining mostly in the background, players can now see its soldiers directly participating in battles alongside their squads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should make some of the game’s larger engagements feel considerably more like an ongoing planetary war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helldivers 2 Progression Expands to 300 Ranks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Long-term players are also receiving another progression target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Devoid of Liberty update allows Helldivers to progress through 300 ranks of security access and privileges<\/strong>, with additional rank titles available as players continue climbing through the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between the expanded progression, new missions, mutated enemies, SEAF reinforcements, and arrival on PlayStation Plus, Devoid of Liberty represents another significant expansion for Helldivers 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And with PlayStation Plus potentially bringing a large influx of new recruits into the fight, Super Earth certainly won’t be short on Helldivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
