Marvel\u2019s Wolverine<\/a> will run at 60 FPS with ray tracing on the standard PlayStation<\/a> 5<\/strong>, with Insomniac Games confirming that high-performance gameplay has been a priority since early in development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike previous Insomniac releases, where players typically choose between fidelity and performance modes, Wolverine has been designed around a 60 FPS ray-traced experience from the beginning. Better yet, this will be the game’s default graphics mode<\/strong>, even for players using the base PS5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wolverine Targets 60 FPS and Ray Tracing From the Start<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to IGN, Insomniac Games Head of Technology Mike Fitzgerald explained that the studio’s experience with previous PlayStation 5 games gave the team enough confidence to make 60 FPS with ray tracing a fundamental part of Wolverine’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previous Insomniac titles have generally launched with separate fidelity and performance options before the studio introduced additional modes combining higher frame rates with ray-traced effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Marvel’s Wolverine, the developer decided to approach things differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe know we\u2019re confident we can ship this now. This is going to be a 60 frames per second game with ray tracing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Fitzgerald explained that Insomniac has been building the entire game around that target rather than treating a ray-traced performance mode as something to optimize toward late in development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also marks the first time one of the studio’s games will use this type of performance-focused option as its default mode<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
