Team17 <\/a>has officially revealed Worms Galactic Tactics at Gamescom 2026, bringing the beloved franchise back with a much heavier focus on tactical, XCOM-style strategy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Worms are officially back, and this time they’re putting even more thought into blowing each other up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026<\/strong>, Team17 finally unveiled Worms Galactic Tactics<\/strong>, confirming the new entry after weeks of leaks surrounding both its name and early gameplay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While strategy has always been at the heart of Worms, Galactic Tactics takes that concept considerably further, combining the franchise’s familiar destructive chaos with a more deliberate approach to movement, positioning and combat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think Worms meets XCOM with a little Mario + Rabbids thrown into the mix<\/strong>, and you’re probably heading in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Worms Galactic Tactics Takes the Series Deeper Into Strategy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Traditional Worms games have always required more thinking than their ridiculous weapons and cartoon presentation might initially suggest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Positioning your team, accounting for the environment and deciding when to unleash a devastating weapon can make the difference between victory and watching one of your worms get launched halfway across the map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Galactic Tactics appears to build an entire game around that strategic foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than simply navigating the battlefield and taking a shot, players will need to think more carefully about movement and positioning before committing to an attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result looks closer to a dedicated tactical strategy game while retaining the personality and chaos that have defined Worms for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And judging by its Gamescom reveal, the absurdity isn’t going anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
