Nintendo has revealed new details about its live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, confirming that it will tell an original story inspired by ideas, characters and concepts from across the franchise’s 40-year history.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The update came during the The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct<\/strong>, gdje Nintendo<\/a> also confirmed that the movie’s official title is simply The Legend of Zelda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zelda Movie Won’t Directly Adapt a Single Game<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rather than recreating the story of Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild or another individual Zelda game, the movie will feature an entirely original narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nintendo says the story draws inspiration from the wider franchise, potentially allowing the filmmakers to combine familiar elements from different eras of Zelda without being tied to one game’s plot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More details about the story will be revealed closer to release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Legend of Zelda Movie Releases in April 2027<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The live-action adaptation is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 30, 2027<\/strong>, before eventually becoming available on Netflix following its theatrical run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wes Ball<\/strong>, director of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and the Maze Runner trilogy, is directing the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth stars as Link<\/strong>, with Bo Bragason playing Princess Zelda<\/strong>. Uli Latukefu will portray Ganondorf<\/strong>, while Dichen Lachman plays Impa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Filming has already wrapped in New Zealand, putting the project firmly on course for its 2027 theatrical debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
