Bloober Team has officially revealed ONYX: The Dark Grip, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive designed entirely around handheld play and the console’s unique hardware features.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously known as Project M<\/strong>, the dark adventure game was revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct. However, Bloober Team<\/a> isn’t actually developing the project itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ONYX: The Dark Grip Is Built Around Switch 2 Hardware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Development is being handled by Broken Mirror Games<\/strong>, a Bloober Team subsidiary, while Bloober serves as publisher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes ONYX particularly unusual is that it can only be played in handheld mode<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game has been designed around several Switch 2 features, requiring players to physically interact with the console in different ways. Gameplay involves touching the screen, tilting the system and even blowing into its microphone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That makes ONYX reminiscent of experimental Nintendo DS and 3DS games that incorporated hardware features directly into puzzles and gameplay rather than treating them as optional additions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bloober Team had previously teased Project M as something that could only exist on Nintendo hardware, and its handheld-only design now explains those comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ONYX: The Dark Grip is being developed exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. A release date has not yet been announced.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
