Remedy Entertainment has filed a new trademark for Alan Wake\u2019s Return, almost exactly a decade after the same name first sparked speculation about the future of the franchise.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name may sound familiar. Remedy originally trademarked Alan Wake\u2019s Return in 2016<\/a>, prompting speculation about a potential new Alan Wake project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, Sam Lake clarified that it referred to the Alan Wake\u2019s Return<\/strong> live-action video series featured within Quantum Break rather than a new standalone game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the name has returned with a new trademark filing \u2014 and there are some notable differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remedy Files a New Alan Wake\u2019s Return Trademark<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The original 2016 trademark expired earlier this month after Remedy had previously received a renewal notification in 2025. Rather than simply renewing it, Remedy filed a new application shortly after its expiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Alan Wake\u2019s Return trademark<\/a> also covers a somewhat different collection of goods and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The previous Class 028 covering toys has been replaced by Class 016 for printed materials and Class 025 for clothing<\/strong>. Class 041 continues to cover multimedia-related services, while Class 09 has been expanded with additional categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

None of this confirms that Remedy is developing a new Alan Wake game under the Alan Wake\u2019s Return name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Could It Be Connected to Remedy\u2019s Film and TV Plans?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The timing does leave several possibilities open. Remedy<\/a> previously partnered with Annapurna<\/strong> to help bring the Alan Wake and Control franchises to film and television, making the continued multimedia coverage particularly noteworthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, Remedy<\/a> could simply be expanding its legal protection for the Alan Wake\u2019s Return name across merchandise, media and other potential uses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For now, there has been no official announcement connecting the trademark to a new game, movie or television project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
