Xbox reportedly secured Hideo Kojima’s PHYSINT under a deal worth a fraction of the budget Sony had originally allocated to the project, while Microsoft is also said to have obtained movie and television rights to the IP.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

A previous report suggested Microsoft could be spending around $400 million<\/strong> on Kojima Productions’ upcoming action-espionage game, leading to comparisons with Xbox’s recent restructuring and layoffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, a new report from Windows Central<\/a> disputes that figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to sources with direct knowledge of the contracts, the reported $400 million figure may have represented the budget Sony had allocated for PHYSINT rather than what Microsoft ultimately agreed to pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xbox Reportedly Gets PHYSINT Movie and TV Rights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft reportedly secured PHYSINT for \u201ca fraction\u201d of Sony’s original deal<\/strong>, although no specific figure has been disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement is also said to extend beyond publishing the game, with Xbox reportedly obtaining movie and television licensing rights<\/strong> for the PHYSINT intellectual property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft is additionally claimed to have negotiated improved terms for OD<\/strong>, Kojima Productions’ upcoming horror project already being developed in partnership with Xbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neither Microsoft nor Kojima Productions has publicly detailed the financial terms of these agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PHYSINT is being developed as a next-generation action-espionage game<\/strong> and has been positioned as a spiritual successor to Hideo Kojima’s work on Metal Gear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd<\/strong> will play the lead role, with Charlee Fraser, Minami Hamabe and Ma Dong-seok also attached to the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No release window has been announced, and following the end of Sony’s involvement with the project, Kojima has also said that its eventual PlayStation<\/a> availability remains uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
