Sony <\/a>is bringing AI-powered upscaling to the standard PS5 with QSSR, a new technology developed through its Project Amethyst partnership with AMD. Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yotei are among the first games to support it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

QSSR, or Quick Spectral Super Resolution<\/strong>, is described as a new performance-focused evolution of the PSSR technology currently available on PS5 Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike PSSR, QSSR has been designed to operate within the hardware capabilities of the standard PlayStation<\/a> 5 using a streamlined neural network architecture and an implementation specifically optimized for the console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yotei Get QSSR<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yotei are receiving QSSR support today<\/strong> through new updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Insomniac Games says QSSR improves pixel-level clarity and image stability in Marvel’s Wolverine, with increased detail visible on distant buildings and other objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sucker Punch says Ghost of Yotei similarly benefits from improved character and environmental detail alongside greater temporal stability. The technology can improve details including foliage, clothing and other fine elements of the image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

QSSR was developed through Project Amethyst<\/strong>, Sony and AMD’s partnership focused on machine learning and graphics technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The introduction of QSSR effectively brings AI-powered image reconstruction to the base PS5, rather than keeping the technology exclusive to the more powerful PS5 Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
