Last Thursday, Ubisoft held an epic 30-minute presentation for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a full remake of the greatly acclaimed 2013 classic Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. After months of rumors, the pirate adventure is finally back — rebuilt from the ground up and launching sooner than many expected.

This time, the game uses the latest Anvil Engine, the same technology behind Assassin's Creed Shadows, bringing major visual and gameplay upgrades. Ubisoft confirmed dynamic weather systems, improved water simulation, ray-traced lighting, smoother parkour, and seamless transitions between land and sea exploration.

Combat has been redesigned into a faster, more action-focused system while still preserving the feel of the original. Stealth has also been modernized, with free crouching and improved enemy reactions.

One of the biggest surprises was the announcement of around six hours of brand-new story content, reportedly written by longtime Assassin’s Creed writer Darby McDevitt. Ubisoft says the new chapters expand Edward’s journey while staying faithful to the original single-player experience. Importantly, this is not an RPG — it remains a focused narrative action-adventure.

Fans of collectibles also got good news: a brand-new Collector’s Edition was revealed, featuring an Edward Kenway figurine and physical bonuses. Pricing begins at €59.99 for the standard edition, while the Collector’s Edition is listed at $199.99.

Even better? You won’t have to wait long. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches July 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

And yes — the presentation was hosted by none other than Edward Kenway’s original actor, Matt Ryan, making the reveal even more special for longtime fans.

For many players, Black Flag remains one of the greatest entries in the franchise. If Ubisoft delivers on what was shown, Resynced could become one of the biggest gaming releases of Summer 2026.
