Naughty Dog has completed the cinematic shoot for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, marking another significant development milestone for the ambitious PS5 project starring Tati Gabrielle as Jordan A. Mun.
We’ve heard surprisingly little about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet since Naughty Dog officially revealed its new IP, but the studio has finally provided a meaningful update on the game’s development.
Rather than another rumor or insider report, this one comes directly from Naughty Dog.
The studio has announced that filming for the game’s cinematics has officially wrapped, sharing an image of Tati Gabrielle, who plays protagonist Jordan A. Mun, holding a weapon prop from the production.
It’s an encouraging milestone, although it doesn’t necessarily mean Intergalactic is approaching release just yet.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Has Finished Its Cinematic Shoot
Naughty Dog announced the milestone through its social media channels, confirming that production on the game’s ambitious cinematic shoot has concluded.
The studio wrote:
“See you, space cowboy… That is a wrap on the very ambitious Intergalactic cinematic shoot! This cast killed it! Cannot wait to show you their incredible work when the time is right!”
Finishing performance capture and cinematic filming represents a significant step forward for a Naughty Dog production.
The studio has become known for heavily cinematic games such as The Last of Us and Uncharted, where performances, animation and storytelling are deeply integrated into the overall experience.
Intergalactic appears unlikely to be any different.
Tati Gabrielle will lead the game as Jordan A. Mun, and the latest image gives us another glimpse behind the scenes of her work on Naughty Dog’s new sci-fi adventure.
Intergalactic Still Likely Has Plenty of Development Ahead
While completing the cinematic shoot is important, it shouldn’t be interpreted as confirmation that the entire game is nearly finished.
The milestone specifically relates to filming.
Naughty Dog still needs to integrate and polish those performances, while animation, gameplay development, audio, visual effects, sound design and other areas of production can continue long after actors have finished their work.
We also don’t currently know how far along the playable portions of Intergalactic are.
Previous reports have suggested that development remains demanding, while one of the game’s actors previously indicated that the project could still be a couple of years away.
Naughty Dog hasn’t announced an official release date or release window.
For now, the safest conclusion is simply that one major component of production has reached completion.
Could Intergalactic Appear at the Next State of Play?
The timing of Naughty Dog’s announcement is particularly interesting given recent rumors surrounding Sony’s next PlayStation presentation.
Reliable insider NateTheHate has suggested that Sony could hold another State of Play in September 2026, although PlayStation has yet to officially announce the event.
That has naturally led to speculation that Intergalactic could make an appearance.
The game’s original announcement provided an extensive cinematic introduction to Jordan and Naughty Dog’s new universe, but fans are still waiting for a proper look at gameplay.
A new trailer would therefore be one of the biggest potential attractions Sony could bring to a future PlayStation presentation.
However, there’s currently no evidence confirming that Intergalactic will appear at the rumored September State of Play, so expectations should remain in check until Naughty Dog or Sony says otherwise.
Intergalactic Is Naughty Dog’s Next Big New IP
Intergalactic represents an important change of direction for Naughty Dog.
After years dominated by The Last of Us and Uncharted, the studio is moving into science fiction with an entirely new universe.
Jordan A. Mun is a bounty hunter who becomes stranded on Sempiria, a mysterious planet that has been isolated from outside communication for centuries.
The project also represents Naughty Dog’s first completely new franchise in more than a decade, placing plenty of expectations on whatever the studio ultimately delivers.
With the cinematic shoot now officially complete, development has reached another notable milestone.
The bigger question is when Naughty Dog will finally be ready to show us what actually playing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet looks like.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is currently in development for PlayStation 5. Naughty Dog has not announced an official release date.
Do you think Intergalactic will finally get a gameplay reveal at Sony’s next major presentation, or are we still a long way from seeing it in action? Let us know in the comments below.
