Monster Hunter Wilds Comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4

Capcom has officially announced Monster Hunter Wilds for Nintendo Switch 2, with the game launching on December 4, 2026, complete with cross-play, wireless local multiplayer and all previously released free updates.

The Switch 2 version also confirms a feature Monster Hunter fans have been requesting: local multiplayer for up to four players, bringing portable hunting sessions back to Nintendo hardware.

Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 Supports Local Multiplayer

Capcom confirmed that the Switch 2 version will support wireless local play, allowing as many as four nearby players to hunt together without relying entirely on traditional online multiplayer.

Cross-play will also be supported, opening multiplayer to hunters playing on other platforms.

The Switch 2 release will include all Free Title Updates, meaning Nintendo players won’t be starting with the original launch version of Monster Hunter Wilds.

Capcom hasn’t officially detailed the Switch 2 version’s resolution or frame rate yet, so previous reports regarding its performance remain unconfirmed.

Ascendance Is Also Coming to Switch 2

Nintendo players won’t be left behind when Monster Hunter Wilds receives its major expansion either.

Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the expansion’s wider release in 2027, bringing Master Rank and a substantial amount of new content.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026, with wireless local multiplayer, cross-play and all Free Title Updates included.
