PHYSINT is no longer a PlayStation Studios project. Sony has ended its collaboration with Kojima Productions on Hideo Kojima’s action-espionage game, with Xbox now officially stepping in as the project’s new partner.
PlayStation confirmed that it made the decision to step away from PHYSINT after careful consideration, bringing an end to a collaboration that was originally announced as a major PlayStation project.
Kojima Productions has now confirmed that development will continue with Xbox.

PlayStation Ends Its PHYSINT Partnership
In its official statement, PlayStation said:
“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to step away from collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on its project PHYSINT.”
Sony added that it continues to have great admiration for Hideo Kojima’s vision and expects its relationship with Kojima Productions to remain strong despite the cancellation of this particular partnership.
According to Kojima, Kojima Productions was informed of PlayStation’s decision in mid-June 2026.
The studio then spent approximately three months searching for another company willing to support the project.
Xbox Is Now Partnering With Kojima Productions on PHYSINT
That search has ended with a familiar partner.
Kojima confirmed that Xbox will now collaborate on PHYSINT, expanding the relationship between the two companies beyond OD.
“Determined to keep the project alive, we have spent the last three months searching tirelessly for a new partner.”
Kojima explained that discussions across the industry eventually led the studio back to Xbox, which shares its vision for the project.
Xbox subsequently confirmed the partnership, stating that its relationship with Kojima Productions is now expanding to PHYSINT.
Kojima Productions also stressed that development remains ongoing, with the studio still aiming to redefine the action-espionage genre.
PHYSINT was originally presented as a major new action-espionage project from Hideo Kojima. While its publishing partnership has now changed dramatically, the game itself has survived PlayStation’s departure and will continue development with Xbox as Kojima Productions’ new partner.
