Naughty Dog has confirmed that two new projects set in The Last of Us universe are in the very early stages of development, while Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will receive its full reveal in 2027.
Neil Druckmann shared the updates while closing this year’s The Last of Us Day, answering two of the biggest questions surrounding Naughty Dog’s future projects.
The studio also confirmed that its charity stream raised more than $11,000 for AbleGamers.
Two New The Last of Us Projects Are in Early Development
After previously discussing the possibility of returning to The Last of Us following Grounded II, Druckmann has now confirmed that Naughty Dog has two projects in very early development.
“We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages – so we can’t say much about them at this point.”
Most importantly, both projects will expand the established universe beyond the two main games.
“I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II.”
Naughty Dog hasn’t revealed whether these projects are games or another form of media, so a The Last of Us Part III has not been announced.
Intergalactic Will Be Fully Revealed in 2027
Druckmann also provided an update on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, describing it as Naughty Dog’s “most ambitious game yet.”
However, fans shouldn’t expect anything more from the game during 2026.
Naughty Dog plans to remain quiet for the rest of the year before fully revealing Intergalactic in 2027, when players will finally get a more substantial look at Jordan’s sci-fi adventure.
“We’ll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan’s wild sci-fi adventure.”
No specific date for the 2027 reveal or release window for Intergalactic was announced.
