Beyond Good & Evil 2 remains in active development at Ubisoft, with an Assassin’s Creed Shadows writer confirming he has been working on the long-awaited game over the past several months.
The project survived Ubisoft‘s major restructuring earlier this year, which resulted in several cancellations across the company. While Beyond Good & Evil 2 director Fawzi Mesmar previously confirmed the game remained unaffected, updates have been extremely limited since then.
Now, another Ubisoft developer has provided fresh confirmation that work is continuing.

Ubisoft Writer Has Been Supporting Beyond Good & Evil 2
Rik Godwin, Lead Writer and Associate Narrative Director at Ubisoft Bordeaux, revealed on Bluesky that he has been supporting the Beyond Good & Evil 2 team for the past few months.
Godwin currently works across several Ubisoft projects and franchises, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Ghost Recon, while serving in a support and consulting role on Beyond Good & Evil 2.
He even noted that he checked whether he was allowed to publicly mention his involvement before sharing the information.
It’s a small update, but an important one considering the game’s extraordinary development history.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 was originally announced in 2008 before being reintroduced at E3 2017. Ubisoft subsequently showed gameplay in 2018, but public updates have become increasingly rare.
The game is still described as an action-adventure RPG playable solo or in co-op, with players able to explore and fight across planets and space at dramatically different scales.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 still has no confirmed release date. However, Godwin's recent involvement provides fresh evidence that development is continuing despite the project's unusually long and turbulent history.
