DOOM: The Dark Ages Reveals Massive ‘Revelations’ DLC, Launching This July

id Software isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

During the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, the legendary studio officially unveiled Revelations, the first major expansion for DOOM: The Dark Ages, giving players a brutal new chapter to explore just months after the game’s record-breaking launch.

Better yet, fans won’t have to wait long.

DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations launches on July 7, 2026.

The Slayer Descends Into a New Abyss

The debut trailer offered a glimpse of what appears to be a substantial new campaign expansion packed with fresh locations, terrifying enemies, and plenty of opportunities for over-the-top demon slaughter.

From the very first moments, Revelations makes it clear that the Doom Slayer is heading somewhere even darker than before.

The footage showcased massive hellish landscapes, frozen wastelands, ancient fortresses, and what appears to be an entirely new realm hidden beneath the events of the main story.

And yes, things get absolutely chaotic.

New Weapons, New Enemies, New Nightmares

Alongside the new environments, id Software also teased several previously unseen enemies and combat encounters.

The iconic Shield Saw returns to action, slicing through demons with the same brutal efficiency players have come to expect, while several mysterious weapons briefly appeared throughout the trailer.

Although the studio hasn’t fully detailed the expansion’s arsenal yet, it’s clear Revelations will introduce new tools for players to unleash across its campaign.

Because it wouldn’t be DOOM without finding creative new ways to destroy demons.

Expanding the Story of The Dark Ages

DOOM: The Dark Ages serves as a prequel to both DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal, exploring the origins of the Doom Slayer during a medieval-inspired war between humanity, Hell, and powerful cosmic forces.

Revelations appears set to expand that mythology even further.

The trailer hints at deeper secrets surrounding the Slayer’s role as the ultimate weapon of gods and kings, while introducing new locations that seem connected to the ancient history of the conflict.

For fans invested in the lore, this could be one of the franchise’s most important story expansions yet.

Building on DOOM’s Biggest Launch Ever

The announcement arrives after what id Software has described as the biggest launch in the studio’s history.

DOOM: The Dark Ages successfully reinvented the franchise once again by shifting away from Eternal’s hyper-aggressive movement style and embracing a heavier, more grounded approach centered around shield combat, brutal melee attacks, and large-scale medieval warfare.

Revelations looks ready to continue that momentum.

More DOOM Is Always Good News

If the reveal trailer is any indication, Revelations isn’t a small side story or minor add-on.

The expansion appears packed with new content, new challenges, and some of the most visually impressive environments id Software has ever created.

For Doom fans, July 7 is shaping up to be another very busy day.

Because no matter how many demons the Slayer kills, there’s always another hell waiting to be conquered.
