GTA 6 Pre-Orders Are ‘Exceptional’ as Take-Two Reveals 29 Games in Development

Grand Theft Auto 6 is already delivering huge numbers for Take-Two Interactive months before its official release, with the company describing early pre-orders as “exceptional.”

The update arrived alongside Take-Two’s latest financial results, which also provided a fascinating look at the publisher’s future. Across Rockstar Games, 2K, Zynga, and its other studios, Take-Two currently has 29 games in development.

Unsurprisingly, GTA 6 sits at the center of those plans and is expected to become one of Take-Two’s biggest revenue drivers for years to come.

GTA 6 Pre-Orders Have Had an ‘Exceptional’ Start

Take-Two provided an update on GTA 6 during its financial results for the first quarter of FY2027.

According to the company, “global excitement for the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 continues to build,” with the game enjoying what Take-Two described as an “exceptional start to preorders.”

Take-Two hasn’t revealed exactly how many copies have already been pre-ordered or how much revenue GTA 6 has generated before launch.

Considering the extraordinary anticipation surrounding Rockstar’s next open-world game, however, the early performance shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026.

GTA 6 Will Be Massive for Take-Two’s Financial Year

Take-Two expects GTA 6 to become one of the primary drivers behind a huge FY2027.

The company is forecasting approximately $8 billion in net bookings, representing around 20% growth compared to the previous financial year.

Rockstar Games is expected to account for approximately 37% of Take-Two’s revenue breakdown, demonstrating just how important GTA 6 will be to the publisher.

Pre-orders could also receive another major boost later this month.

Rockstar recently announced an extended GTA 6 presentation for August 27, which will premiere on Netflix before becoming available through Rockstar’s YouTube channel six hours later.

Exactly what will be shown remains unknown, but expectations are naturally high for the possibility of the first extensive gameplay showcase.

GTA 6 Could Generate Revenue for Years

Launch sales will only represent the beginning of GTA 6’s commercial life.

Rockstar hasn’t officially detailed the game’s multiplayer component yet, but expectations are that GTA 6 will eventually receive a major online experience capable of succeeding GTA Online.

GTA 5 has generated revenue for more than a decade through GTA Online, including its Shark Card microtransactions and regular content updates.

A future PC version of GTA 6 could provide Take-Two with another enormous sales milestone, although Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC release date yet.

With pre-orders already performing exceptionally well, GTA 6 appears positioned to become the centerpiece of Take-Two’s business for the foreseeable future.

Take-Two Currently Has 29 Games in Development

GTA 6 might dominate the headlines, but Take-Two has significantly more in development behind the scenes.

The company’s latest financial report reveals that 29 games are currently in its development pipeline across several different categories.

These include mobile titles, sports games, completely new intellectual properties, sequels, remakes, remasters, and platform extensions.

The portfolio demonstrates that Take-Two is preparing a substantial pipeline beyond Rockstar’s next Grand Theft Auto.

Eight Sports Games Are Currently in Development

Sports represents one of the biggest portions of Take-Two’s upcoming portfolio, with eight titles currently in development.

Among the games already announced are:

  • NBA 2K27
  • PGA 2K27
  • WWE 2K27

NBA 2K27 is currently scheduled to launch on September 4, 2026, while further details surrounding the other upcoming sports releases are expected in the future.

Take-Two also has three mobile games in development, including Zynga’s already announced CSR 3 and Top Goal.

Take-Two Is Developing Three New IPs

The company isn’t relying entirely on its established franchises.

Take-Two says three games based on new core intellectual properties are currently being developed.

Two of those projects have already been announced: Judas, developed by Ghost Story Games, and Project ETHOS from 31st Union.

Neither currently has a confirmed release date.

The existence of a third project also means Take-Two has at least one additional new core IP in development that hasn’t been publicly detailed.

Eight Sequels and Seven Remakes or Remasters Are Coming

The largest category consists of games based on Take-Two’s existing franchises.

There are currently 15 projects involving existing core IP, divided into:

  • Eight sequels
  • Seven remakes, remasters, or platform extensions

That leaves plenty of room for speculation surrounding which of Take-Two’s established franchises could return over the coming years.

Of the games included in this portion of the pipeline, GTA 6 is currently the only title with a confirmed release date, arriving November 19.

With 29 games spread across established franchises and completely new properties, Take-Two clearly has an enormous development pipeline ahead.

For now, though, all eyes remain on GTA 6—and judging by its “exceptional” pre-order performance, Rockstar’s next release is already proving its commercial power months before anyone gets to play it.
