Despite Playground Games recently stating that Forza Horizon 6 would launch on PS5 later this year, a new report claims Microsoft has decided to delay the PlayStation version until early 2027.
The conflicting information comes just one day after an official Forza Horizon 6 update told PlayStation players to stay tuned for a PS5 release later in 2026.
Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Version Could Slip to Early 2027
The Verge’s Tom Warren reports that Microsoft is now planning to delay the PS5 version, citing sources familiar with Playground Games‘ plans.
According to Warren:
“Microsoft is planning to delay the release of Forza Horizon 6 on PS5, according to sources familiar with Playground Games’ plans.”
The PlayStation version was reportedly scheduled for 2026 but is now expected in početak 2027.. No more specific release window has been provided.
The timing makes the situation particularly unusual, as Playground Games recently stated that Forza Horizon 6 would be “releasing on PS5 later this year.”
Tokyo Game Show Could Provide an Answer
Microsoft is scheduled to have a presence at Tokyo Game Show 2026 later this month, making the event a possible venue for clarification or a new PS5 release window. However, there is currently no confirmation that an announcement will happen there.
Forza Horizon 6 originally launched on May 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, taking the open-world racing series to Japan for the first time.
Until Microsoft or Playground Games officially confirms a delay, the PS5 version technically remains announced for 2026. However, if the latest report is accurate, PlayStation players will have to wait until early 2027 to play Forza Horizon 6.
