Ubisoft is bringing the Far Cry franchise back to Nintendo hardware, with Far Cry 3 Classic Edition and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition officially coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2027.

The announcement brings two of the franchise’s most recognizable releases to Nintendo’s latest console, although Ubisoft hasn’t announced an exact release date yet.

Far Cry 3 Classic Edition Is Coming to Switch 2

Originally released in 2012, Far Cry 3 follows Jason Brody after he becomes stranded on a dangerous tropical island controlled by pirates and criminals.

The open-world first-person shooter combines gunplay and stealth with exploration, hunting and crafting, allowing players to approach objectives in different ways.

Its villain, Vaas Montenegro, went on to become one of the most recognizable characters in the entire Far Cry franchise.

Blood Dragon Is Coming Too

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition will also launch for Nintendo Switch 2 during the same Spring 2027 window.

Unlike the main game, Blood Dragon is a standalone experience that transforms Far Cry 3’s gameplay into an exaggerated retro-futuristic world heavily inspired by 1980s science fiction.

Ubisoft hasn’t yet detailed any Switch 2-specific technical improvements, performance targets or additional features for either Classic Edition.

For now, both Far Cry 3 Classic Edition and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition are officially scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2027.
