Final Fantasy VII Revelation will allow players to select Hard Mode on their first playthrough, removing the requirement to complete the story before unlocking the highest difficulty.
Square Enix is making an important change to the final chapter of its Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy.
Game director Naoki Hamaguchi je potvrdio da Final Fantasy VII Revelation will offer Hard Mode immediately, unlike Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
The change means experienced players can challenge themselves from the beginning without completing the campaign first.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Changes How Hard Mode Works
Speaking with Hardcore Gamer, Hamaguchi explained the decision.
“Hard Mode is selectable from the very start of this game,” he confirmed.
According to Hamaguchi, the change is connected to the game’s expanded post-game content.
Previous entries required players to finish the main story before unlocking Hard Mode, encouraging a second playthrough for those seeking the toughest challenges.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation removes that restriction, allowing players to experience its highest difficulty immediately.
More Endgame Content After Completing the Story
Hamaguchi also confirmed that Revelation will feature a wider variety of endgame activities than its predecessors.
Rather than relying primarily on a second playthrough in Hard Mode, Square Enix wants players to discover additional challenges after finishing the main campaign.
The director explained that the team aims to provide new content and difficult encounters beyond the main story.
This approach could make Revelation more appealing to players who prefer completing the campaign once while still enjoying challenging optional content.
However, Square Enix has not yet detailed the specific endgame activities or how the new difficulty system will affect progression.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will conclude the remake trilogy, with Hard Mode available from the beginning and additional challenges waiting beyond the main story.
