A resurfaced rumor claims Rockstar Games could be planning L.A. Noire 2 as its next major project, with the sequel reportedly set in San Francisco and centered around the Zodiac Killer.

The claim originally appeared on the GTA Forums back in December 2023, posted by user Shahanshah.

According to the original post, Rockstar’s next game after GTA 6 is supposedly L.A. Noire 2, set in San Francisco and involving the Zodiac Killer.

The project was described as being in the “very early stages of development,” with the source suggesting it may not release until around 2030.

Old L.A. Noire 2 Rumor Resurfaces After GTA 6 Claims

The rumor is receiving renewed attention because, according to a discussion on Reddit, the same user previously shared information about GTA 6’s relationship and Criminal Profile systems that has since reportedly aligned with details revealed by Rockstar.

The original L.A. Noire 2 claim also stated that Rockstar executives were discussing bringing back advanced facial scanning technology, with the ambition of making the game one of the most visually impressive titles ever produced.

None of this has been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games.

The alleged setting, Zodiac Killer storyline, 2030 release estimate and facial-scanning plans all originate from the same 2023 forum post. Even if the information was accurate at the time, plans for a project described as being in such an early stage could have changed significantly since then.

For now, L.A. Noire 2 remains strictly a rumor, but the apparent accuracy of some of the user’s older GTA 6 claims has brought new attention to the years-old leak.
