Shrek 2 Remastered has appeared on the Xbox Store ahead of an official announcement, revealing upgraded 4K visuals, online co-op, a photo mode and several new features.
The beloved 2004 movie tie-in game Shrek 2 is reportedly making a comeback, with an unexpected Xbox Store listing revealing details about a modern remaster.
The project is being developed by Aspyr, the studio responsible for bringing several classic Star Wars games to modern platforms.
Although the game has not been formally announced, its Xbox Store listing reportedly includes screenshots, an announcement trailer and a description of its improvements.
Shrek 2 Remastered Features 4K Graphics and Online Multiplayer
According to the listing, Shrek 2 Remastered introduces several graphical and gameplay enhancements:
- 4K resolution with improved textures
- Enhanced user interface and updated cutscenes
- Four-player cooperative multiplayer
- Local and online co-op, including mixed multiplayer sessions
- Photo Mode for capturing gameplay moments
- New unlockable cheats
The original Shrek 2 was released in 2004 and became a memorable cooperative action-adventure game, allowing players to control characters from DreamWorks’ animated franchise.
The remaster aims to preserve that experience while introducing modern visual improvements and more flexible multiplayer options.
Shrek 2 Remastered Announcement Could Arrive Soon
The leaked Xbox Store page also reportedly includes a trailer that humorously references Grand Theft Auto 6.
An official announcement is expected during an upcoming ID@Xbox showcase, although this has not been confirmed.
Shrek 2 Remastered previously appeared in a separate Steam-related leak, adding further weight to reports of its existence.
For now, a release date, pricing and additional platforms have not been officially confirmed.
However, the Xbox Store listing suggests that fans of the original game may soon have another opportunity to revisit Shrek’s adventure with modern enhancements.
