Sony will not exhibit at CES 2027, marking the first time the company has skipped the annual technology show since its launch in 1967.
According to a Bloomberg report, Sony and its affiliates will not participate in the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Sony has maintained a presence at CES throughout the event’s 60-year history, making its absence in January 2027 a notable change in strategy.
Sony Is Shifting Its Focus Toward Entertainment
A Sony spokesperson said the company has been strategically evaluating how it approaches events and communications based on its current business priorities.
The company is increasingly focused on entertainment, intellectual property and technology supporting creators, with Sony saying it is evaluating events based on its current business priorities.
Sony’s presence had already been reduced at CES 2026. Rather than operating its traditional exhibition booth, the company primarily showcased Afeela, its electric vehicle project developed alongside Honda.
That project has since been scrapped, with Sony and Honda reportedly reassessing the future of their joint venture.
Sony’s wider business has increasingly shifted toward areas such as gaming, music and other entertainment properties, and the company has now determined that CES 2027 does not align closely enough with its current priorities.
The decision ends an uninterrupted run stretching back to the first CES in 1967.
