Marvel’s Wolverine launches today on PS5, and lead actor Liam McIntyre says he is “proud as hell” of Insomniac Games’ latest title despite a more divided critical reception than the studio’s previous Marvel games.
McIntyre, who provides the voice and likeness for Logan, addressed the reaction on social media as players begin getting their hands on the game.

Liam McIntyre Responds to Wolverine Criticism
McIntyre compared the situation to his experience taking over the lead role in Spartacus following Andy Whitfield, explaining that dealing with criticism is nothing new to him.
“Man, my career started with the responsibility of taking over for the incredible Andy Whitfield in Spartacus (RIP to that legend). I’ve read things you couldn’t believe.”
He added that his main hope is simply that players enjoy the game.
“I just hope everyone has fun. I’m proud as hell of this game. It’s a blast.”
Marvel’s Wolverine Reviews Are Divided
At the time of writing, Marvel’s Wolverine has a Metacritic score of 77, putting it in the “generally favorable” category but below Insomniac’s previous Spider-Man games.
For comparison, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 holds a 90 Metacritic score, while Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales sit at 87 and 85 respectively.
Individual Wolverine reviews have also varied considerably, ranging from perfect scores to significantly more critical assessments.
With Marvel’s Wolverine launching worldwide today, September 15, exclusively on PS5, attention will now shift from critic reviews to the wider player reception.
