No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 Delayed to March 2027

Moon Studios has delayed the full 1.0 release of No Rest for the Wicked from October 2026 to March 2027, giving the development team additional time to improve performance, refine the class system and polish the action RPG before leaving Early Access.

Players waiting for the complete version of No Rest for the Wicked will have to wait a few months longer.

Moon Studios has officially confirmed that its ambitious action RPG will no longer reach version 1.0 in October. Instead, the full launch is now planned for March 2027.

The developer says the additional development time will be spent addressing performance, improving the game’s class system and ensuring the final release meets the quality standard the studio has set for itself.

No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 Moves to March 2027

Moon Studios announced the delay directly through social media, explaining that although development is getting close to the finish line, the game isn’t yet where the team wants it to be.

The studio stressed that its relatively small development team doesn’t want to compromise on quality simply to hit the previously announced October window.

“The honest truth is that we’re a small team, and we’re holding our games to a standard we won’t compromise on,” Moon Studios explained.

“We’re close, but close isn’t good enough for our full 1.0 launch.”

Rather than releasing a version the team isn’t completely satisfied with, Moon Studios has chosen to add several more months of development.

“We’d rather take a few more months than ship something that we know isn’t quite perfect yet.”

Performance and the Class System Need More Work

Moon Studios specifically highlighted two areas it wants to improve before the 1.0 release: performance and the class system. The additional time will also allow the team to polish the overall experience before No Rest for the Wicked officially leaves Early Access.

Performance has become particularly important as Moon Studios prepares the game for more platforms.

Earlier this summer, the developer delayed the Xbox console version over concerns surrounding the quality it could achieve on Xbox Series S. The wider 1.0 delay now gives the studio additional time to work on the game as a whole rather than forcing the full release into its previous October window.

More Beta Tests Are Coming Before Launch

The delay doesn’t mean players will have to wait until March to see the results of Moon Studios’ work.

The developer says the extended development period will allow it to hold additional beta tests with the community before version 1.0 arrives. That’s particularly useful for a game that has spent such a significant portion of its development in Early Access. No Rest for the Wicked originally entered Steam Early Access in 2024, giving Moon Studios an opportunity to continually expand and refine the game using feedback from its existing player base.

By the time version 1.0 launches, the game will have spent nearly three years evolving through that process.

No Rest for the Wicked Has Already Sold 1.5 Million Copies

Despite remaining an Early Access release, No Rest for the Wicked has already found a substantial audience. Moon Studios announced in February that the game had surpassed 1.5 million copies sold.

The milestone gives the studio a sizeable community to draw feedback from as it prepares the final version.

The 1.0 release will represent a particularly important moment for No Rest for the Wicked, bringing together the content and systems Moon Studios has been developing throughout Early Access while also expanding the game’s availability beyond Steam.

That makes the decision to delay understandable, particularly after the studio’s previous concerns about releasing console versions that don’t meet its standards.

PlayStation Pre-Orders Begin in January

While Moon Studios hasn’t provided a specific day for the March 2027 launch, it has confirmed an important date for PlayStation players.

PlayStation pre-orders for No Rest for the Wicked will begin in January 2027.

The studio has also announced a bonus for its existing PC community.

Anyone who purchases No Rest for the Wicked on Steam before 2027 will receive Founders Pack rewards as a thank-you for supporting the game during its Early Access period.

Further details surrounding the additional beta tests and final 1.0 release date should arrive as Moon Studios gets closer to launch.

Moon Studios Doesn’t Want to Rush the Finish Line

Delays are never particularly exciting for players who have been waiting for a full release, but Moon Studios’ reasoning is straightforward.

No Rest for the Wicked has already spent years in Early Access. Rushing the final few months simply to meet an October deadline would make little sense if the studio already knows there are areas it wants to improve.

Performance is especially important as the game moves beyond PC, while the class system will play a major role in determining how the finished RPG feels over dozens of hours.

After two years of Early Access development and more than 1.5 million copies sold, version 1.0 is effectively Moon Studios’ opportunity to make a new first impression with a much larger audience.

Taking another few months to get that right could ultimately prove far more valuable than hitting the original date.

No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 is now scheduled for March 2027, with PlayStation pre-orders beginning in January. A specific release date hasn’t yet been announced.
