Nintendo Announces Two Directs, Including Zelda 40th Anniversary Showcase

Nintendo has officially announced two Nintendo Direct presentations taking place within 24 hours, including a special 30-minute showcase celebrating The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary.

The presentations will take place on September 8 and September 9, with the first dedicated entirely to Zelda before Nintendo follows it with a general Direct the following day.

Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct Airs September 8

The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct begins September 8 at 7 AM PT and will run for approximately 30 minutes.

Nintendo hasn’t revealed exactly what will appear during the presentation, leaving plenty of room for surprises.

One potential candidate is the upcoming Ocarina of Time Remake, which is expected to release toward the end of 2026. However, Nintendo has not confirmed that the game will appear during the Direct.

The showcase could also provide updates surrounding the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie, alongside other potential announcements celebrating the franchise’s 40-year history.

General Nintendo Direct Follows on September 9

Nintendo isn’t stopping with Zelda.

A second, more traditional Nintendo Direct will air on September 9 at 7 AM PT, focusing on Nintendo’s wider lineup.

No specific games have been confirmed for the general presentation yet.

With two showcases scheduled on consecutive days, September 8 and 9 are shaping up to be particularly busy for Nintendo fans – especially anyone waiting to see what’s next for The Legend of Zelda.
