007 First Light is already looking like one of the visually strongest games of the year — but according to new technical details, the PS5 Pro version may take things even further.
Developer IO Interactive has now revealed how the game’s upgraded PSSR implementation will improve image quality, motion clarity, and overall visual stability on Sony’s enhanced console.
And honestly?
Some of these improvements sound pretty substantial.
PS5 Pro’s Upgraded PSSR Will Improve Visual Quality Across the Entire Game
According to the developers, the enhanced version of Sony’s PSSR technology in 007 First Light significantly improves overall image reconstruction and stability.
The biggest upgrades reportedly include:
- Better image quality in dense foliage
- Improved close-up facial detail
- Sharper cinematics
- Reduced shimmering and flickering artifacts
- More stable camera motion
- Enhanced clarity on hair and fabric details
Essentially, IO Interactive says the game should look noticeably cleaner and smoother during gameplay — especially in motion-heavy scenes.

Motion Stability Was Apparently a Major Focus
One of the more interesting details from the announcement is how much emphasis the developers placed on image stability while moving the camera.
According to IO Interactive, the upgraded PSSR helps maintain image definition much more effectively during motion, resulting in a more consistent presentation overall.
That’s especially important for a cinematic stealth-action game like 007 First Light, where players constantly move between:
- Large detailed environments
- High-speed action sequences
- Dense crowds
- Dynamic lighting conditions
And honestly?
Reducing shimmering and flickering is exactly the kind of improvement PS5 Pro players will immediately notice.
IO Interactive Says Integration Happened Surprisingly Fast
Interestingly, the studio also revealed that implementing the upgraded PSSR technology apparently happened in “record time.”
According to the developers, the base image quality was already strong enough that the team did not even need to perform scene-by-scene tuning across different lighting conditions or locations.
That’s actually pretty impressive considering how visually complex the game already appears in trailers.
007 First Light Launches This Month
007 First Light officially launches on May 27, 2026, and remains one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
The game stars Patrick Gibson as a younger version of James Bond and serves as a complete reimagining of the iconic spy franchise under IO Interactive, the creators of the modern Hitman trilogy.
Recent previews and developer interviews have also confirmed:
- No New Game+
- A stronger cinematic focus
- Expanded stealth systems
- Original Bond storyline separate from the films
And honestly?
If the final game delivers on both the gameplay and visual side, 007 First Light could end up becoming one of the biggest PlayStation showcases for PS5 Pro hardware so far.
