Halo: Campaign Evolved Release Date Revealed, Launching This July

After months of waiting, Xbox and Halo Studios have finally confirmed when players will be able to return to one of gaming’s most iconic adventures.

During the latest Xbox Games Showcase 2026, Microsoft officially revealed that Halo: Campaign Evolved will launch on July 28, 2026, bringing a modern remake of the legendary Halo: Combat Evolved campaign to a new generation of players.

The game will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.

Master Chief Returns This Summer

The new trailer showcased an extensive look at the remake, highlighting dramatically upgraded visuals, enhanced cinematics, modernized gameplay systems, and several newly created story sequences.

While remaining faithful to the original Halo campaign that launched in 2001, Campaign Evolved introduces a variety of improvements designed to make the experience feel modern without losing what made the original so special.

Most notably, players will be able to experience three brand-new prequel missions featuring both Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson, expanding the story surrounding humanity’s first encounters with Halo.

Early Access Starts Five Days Before Launch

Players eager to jump in early won’t have to wait until the official release date.

Those who pre-order the game will receive five days of early access, beginning on July 23, 2026.

Pre-order bonuses also include several cosmetic rewards inspired by the original game, including the Classic 2001 Mark V Armor, classic Assault Rifle skins, and exclusive Gilded Onyx weapon and armor variants.

Standard and Premium Editions Detailed

Halo Studios also revealed full pricing information for both editions of the game.

The Standard Edition will cost $49.99, while the Premium Edition is priced at $69.99.

Players purchasing the Premium Edition will receive additional content including the Alpha Halo Armory Pack, featuring five Master Chief armor skins and six weapon skins, alongside a digital artbook, a new digital short story titled Halo: Hungry Buzzards, and a digital recreation of the game’s instruction manual.

Built for Veterans and Newcomers

Halo: Campaign Evolved isn’t simply a visual upgrade.

The remake has been designed as both a nostalgic return for longtime fans and a fresh starting point for newcomers discovering Halo for the first time.

The campaign supports solo play as well as four-player online co-op, while also featuring full cross-play and cross-progression support across all platforms.

That means Xbox, PC, and PlayStation players will be able to experience Master Chief’s legendary first adventure together.

A Major Moment for PlayStation Players

One of the biggest surprises surrounding Campaign Evolved remains its PlayStation release.

Following Microsoft’s announcement last year that the remake would also arrive on PlayStation 5, many players who never owned an Xbox will finally get the opportunity to experience the story that helped define the modern shooter genre.

For many younger PlayStation gamers, this may be their first proper introduction to Halo’s universe.

The Beginning of Halo’s New Era

Halo Studios has made it clear that Campaign Evolved is only the beginning.

Recent reports suggest the studio is exploring remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3, while also continuing development on the franchise’s next major mainline installment.

For now, though, all eyes are on July.

More than two decades after Master Chief first stepped onto Alpha Halo, players are about to do it all over again—with a fresh coat of paint and a few new surprises along the way.
