Fallout: New Vegas Remake Rumors Gain More Credibility After New Insider Comment

For years, Fallout fans have dreamed of returning to the Mojave Wasteland in a modern remake, and a new comment from a well-known insider is only adding more fuel to the fire.

Rumors surrounding a potential Fallout: New Vegas Remake have been circulating since reports emerged earlier this year suggesting that Microsoft and Bethesda were exploring multiple Fallout projects, including remasters and remakes of classic entries. Now, another industry insider has indicated that those rumors may have more substance than many originally thought.

Insider Says Previous New Vegas Remake Rumors “Have Merit”

The latest update comes from gaming insider NateTheHate, who has built a reputation for accurately reporting on unannounced projects in the past.

During a recent discussion on X (formerly Twitter), the insider was asked directly whether the rumors surrounding a Fallout: New Vegas remake were legitimate. His response was brief but enough to get the Fallout community talking once again.

“The previous rumors have merit.”

While Nate stopped short of providing additional details, the statement has reignited speculation that Bethesda and Microsoft may indeed have plans to revisit one of the most beloved RPGs ever created.

Notably, this isn’t the first time New Vegas has been linked to future Fallout projects. Earlier reports discussing the future of XBOX suggested that both a Fallout 3 Remake and a Fallout: New Vegas Remake were under consideration. More recently, comments from a former Fallout writer mentioning “New Vegas 2” also sparked renewed interest among fans.

Originally released in 2010 by Obsidian Entertainment, Fallout: New Vegas is widely regarded as one of the strongest entries in the entire franchise.

Set in the post-apocalyptic Mojave Wasteland, the game allowed players to explore iconic locations including the Las Vegas Strip, Hoover Dam, and countless faction-controlled settlements. Its emphasis on player choice, branching storylines, and memorable companions helped distinguish it from other Fallout games.

Even today, many players consider New Vegas the gold standard for modern Fallout storytelling.

The game’s enduring popularity has only increased thanks to continued mod support and the recent success of Amazon’s Fallout TV series, which introduced millions of new players to the franchise.

Fallout’s Future Is Looking Busy

The rumors arrive during a particularly active period for the Fallout franchise.

Bethesda continues to support Fallout 76 with major updates and recently revealed new CAMPanions, allowing players to bring companions along during their adventures throughout Appalachia.

Meanwhile, speculation surrounding Fallout 5 continues to grow following reports that Microsoft wants to accelerate development of some of its biggest gaming franchises, including Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.

Whether a New Vegas remake arrives before Fallout 5 remains unknown, but the idea certainly feels more realistic today than it did a few years ago.

Still No Official Confirmation

As exciting as these rumors may be, it’s important to note that neither Bethesda nor XBOX has officially announced a Fallout: New Vegas remake.

For now, fans should treat all reports as speculation. However, with multiple insiders pointing in the same direction and Microsoft’s growing focus on the Fallout brand, the possibility of revisiting the Mojave Wasteland on modern hardware no longer feels impossible.

And if there is one Fallout game many fans would choose for a full remake, New Vegas would likely sit at the very top of that list.
