A new report suggests that Ghost Recon Wildlands could soon be making its return with a Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, bringing visual enhancements, performance upgrades, and even brand-new content.
The rumor first surfaced on the Ghost Recon Wildlands subreddit, where an alleged promotional image hinted at Ubisoft’s plans for the tactical shooter. Since then, the leak has spread across social media, sparking excitement among longtime fans.
New Mission and 4K 60 FPS Support
According to the leaked image, the Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition won’t simply be a graphical upgrade.
The rumored package is expected to include:
- A brand-new story mission.
- Native 4K resolution support.
- 60 FPS gameplay on current-generation consoles.
- Various technical improvements for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
If the leak proves accurate, this would mark the first major update for Wildlands since its original release in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Ubisoft Teases Ghost Recon News
Shortly after the rumor began circulating online, Ubisoft confirmed that new Ghost Recon news will be revealed next month.
While the publisher didn’t specifically mention a Definitive Edition, the timing has only fueled speculation that an official announcement could be just around the corner.
Until Ubisoft shares more information, fans should still treat the leaked image as an unconfirmed report.
Ubisoft Continues Refreshing Older Games
A potential Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition would fit Ubisoft’s recent strategy of revisiting successful older titles with updated visuals and new content for modern hardware.
The publisher has already invested heavily in enhanced editions and remasters while several of its major upcoming projects—including future entries in the Far Cry, Ghost Recon, and Assassin’s Creed franchises—have reportedly faced internal delays during development.
Reports also suggest that Watch Dogs Legion is receiving a similar upgraded edition later this year, complete with additional missions and refreshed content.
Official Announcement Still Pending
At the time of writing, Ubisoft has not officially announced Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition.
However, with Ubisoft promising new Ghost Recon news in the near future and multiple reports pointing toward a next-generation re-release, fans may not have to wait much longer to find out whether they’ll soon be returning to Bolivia with improved visuals, smoother performance, and brand-new content.
