MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls has officially unveiled its first post-launch DLC character, with Phoenix Cyclops joining the roster as part of the game’s Year One content roadmap.
The announcement was made during San Diego Comic-Con, where developers also teased several additional fighters, a brand-new stage, and upcoming cosmetic content for the highly anticipated Marvel fighting game.

Phoenix Cyclops Leads the First DLC Pack
The first Year One DLC will launch in Fall 2026, introducing a unique version of Scott Summers inspired by the Phoenix Five storyline from the 2012 Avengers vs. X-Men comic series.
Unlike the traditional version of Cyclops, this incarnation wields the immense power of the Phoenix Force, dramatically enhancing his abilities in battle.
According to PlayStation, players can expect a combination of:
- Devastating Optic Blasts.
- Powerful close-range combat.
- Phoenix Force abilities.
- An entirely new visual design based on the Phoenix Five storyline.
While gameplay details remain under wraps, the developers confirmed that a deeper look at Phoenix Cyclops’ fighting style will be shared in a future update.
More DLC Characters Have Been Teased
Although Phoenix Cyclops is the only officially confirmed DLC fighter so far, the reveal trailer also hinted at:
- Three additional playable characters.
- A brand-new battle stage.
- More Year One content still to be announced.
ARC System Works has yet to reveal the identities of the remaining fighters, leaving plenty of room for fan speculation.
Wolverine Costumes Are Also Coming
Alongside the DLC announcement, PlayStation confirmed that MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will feature a variety of alternate costumes inspired by Marvel games and comics.
One of the first crossover outfits comes directly from Marvel’s Wolverine, with Wolverine’s Battle Reborn Suit arriving as a free cosmetic for all players.
The costume will become available on September 1, just two weeks before Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15.
PlayStation Plus Will Remove 9 Games in August 2026
Collaboration With Insomniac Games
The PlayStation Blog also revealed that ARC System Works has been working closely with Insomniac Games to bring authentic costume designs from Marvel’s upcoming titles into MARVEL Tōkon.
This collaboration suggests fans can likely expect additional crossover cosmetics in future updates, further connecting PlayStation’s growing Marvel universe.
With its first DLC fighter now confirmed and more characters already teased, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls continues to build momentum ahead of its post-launch content plans, offering fighting game fans plenty to look forward to throughout Year One.
