Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed why Borderlands 4 will not launch simultaneously on the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 alongside other platforms.
Why the Switch 2 Version Is Delayed
According to Zelnick, the delay is largely tied to development timing and platform readiness rather than a lack of support for Nintendo hardware.
He explained that bringing a massive game like Borderlands 4 to multiple platforms simultaneously requires careful optimization, especially for hardware with different technical capabilities.
Rather than rushing the Switch 2 version, the team appears focused on ensuring it launches in the best possible state.
Take-Two Still Interested in Nintendo
Despite the delayed release, Zelnick emphasized that Take-Two Interactive remains very interested in supporting Nintendo’s next-generation system.
This continues a growing trend where major third-party publishers are taking Nintendo hardware more seriously, particularly after the massive success of the original Nintendo Switch.
Borderlands 4 Expectations Continue to Grow
The next entry in the Borderlands franchise is expected to push the series forward with:
- Larger environments
- Enhanced co-op systems
- New Vault Hunters
- Improved visuals and gunplay
With anticipation continuing to build, many fans are eager to see how the game evolves on current-generation hardware.
Waiting on More Switch 2 Details
At this stage, neither the final specifications nor full release plans for the Switch 2 version are publicly known.
Still, Zelnick’s comments suggest that Borderlands 4 on Nintendo hardware is very much part of the long-term strategy — even if players may need to wait a bit longer to experience it.
