The Blood of Dawnwalker will officially have a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X at launch, with Rebel Wolves confirming the option will arrive through the Day 1 patch.
Well, that changed quickly.
Just days after confirming that The Blood of Dawnwalker would launch without a 60 FPS Performance Mode on consoles, Rebel Wolves has provided a major update ahead of the game’s September 3 release.
The studio has now confirmed that Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS will be available on Day 1 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X.
According to the developer, the mode was already being worked on when the original console performance details were announced. However, testing hadn’t progressed far enough for Rebel Wolves to confidently promise it would be ready for launch.
Following further testing—and plenty of feedback from players—the studio is now confident enough to make it official.

Blood of Dawnwalker Performance Mode Targets 60 FPS
Rebel Wolves explained that when it previously answered questions about console performance, the team only wanted to announce what it knew it could confidently deliver at launch.
Performance Mode was already under development, but it wasn’t ready to be confirmed.
“Performance Mode was already in the works, but it was still being tested. We simply weren’t ready to promise it yet.”
The response from players made it clear that a 60 FPS option was important to a significant part of the console audience.
Rebel Wolves subsequently prioritized another round of testing, with the results apparently giving the studio enough confidence to confirm that the mode will be ready through the launch-day patch.
“We heard your feedback. It was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so we focused on finishing the next round of tests. Those results gave us the confidence we needed to confirm Performance Mode for Day 1.”
This means the previous console specifications are no longer the complete picture.

Three Graphics Modes Confirmed for PS5 and PS5 Pro
On PlayStation 5, The Blood of Dawnwalker will now offer three graphics options:
- Performance Mode — targeting 60 FPS
- Balanced Mode — targeting 40 FPS
- Quality Mode — targeting 30 FPS
The same three frame-rate targets will be available on PlayStation 5 Pro, with the more powerful console also benefiting from overall visual enhancements.
That is a significant improvement over the information Rebel Wolves previously provided, when only Quality and Balanced modes had been confirmed.
At the time, Quality Mode offered Dynamic 4K targeting 30 FPS, while Balanced Mode targeted 40 FPS. The absence of a 60 FPS option attracted plenty of criticism, particularly because even PS5 Pro wasn’t originally confirmed to offer one.
Rebel Wolves has now addressed arguably the biggest complaint surrounding the game’s console performance before launch.
The wording is still important, though: Performance Mode is targeting 60 FPS, rather than guaranteeing a locked 60 FPS throughout the entire experience.
With The Blood of Dawnwalker being a large open-world RPG, we’ll have to wait for performance testing after release to see how consistently the consoles can maintain that target.
Either way, players who prioritize smoother combat and responsiveness will now have the option they were asking for.
The Blood of Dawnwalker launches September 3, 2026, with its new 60 FPS Performance Mode arriving as part of the Day 1 patch.
