Game of Thrones: War For Westeros has received an official Spring 2027 release window, bringing the upcoming PC-exclusive real-time strategy game one step closer to launch.
The battle for the Iron Throne is coming to PC next year.
During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, Game of Thrones: War For Westeros returned to the spotlight with confirmation that the upcoming strategy game will launch in Spring 2027.
Originally revealed during Summer Game Fest 2025, War For Westeros takes one of television’s biggest fantasy universes and transforms it into a large-scale real-time strategy experience where players can command some of the most recognizable armies in Westeros.
And unlike the original story, you won’t necessarily have to accept how things turned out.
Game of Thrones: War For Westeros Launches in Spring 2027
The newly announced Spring 2027 window narrows down the game’s previously confirmed early 2027 release target.
War For Westeros had initially been expected to launch in 2026, but its developers previously confirmed the game needed additional development time.
Following a development update in July and a new gameplay teaser earlier this month, its Gamescom appearance has finally given players a much clearer idea of when they’ll be able to fight for control of Westeros.
The game will be released exclusively on PC.
Fight For Westeros With Its Biggest Houses
Game of Thrones: War For Westeros allows players to take command of several of the franchise’s most powerful factions.
That includes House Stark, House Lannister and House Targaryen, alongside one particularly interesting alternative: the Night King and his Army of the Dead.
Each faction brings its own forces and approach to the battlefield, opening the door for players to reshape conflicts familiar from Game of Thrones rather than simply watching them unfold exactly as they did in the series.
The real-time strategy format also feels like a natural match for the franchise.
Large armies, political rivalries and battles for territory were fundamental parts of Game of Thrones, and War For Westeros gives players direct control over those conflicts.
With the release window now narrowed down, we should learn considerably more about its factions, campaign and strategic systems over the coming months.
