Nodusfall Revealed by HoYoverse With First Gameplay Trailer at Gamescom 2026

HoYoverse has officially revealed Nodusfall during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, showing the first gameplay from its new co-op action game built around teams taking down enormous creatures.

HoYoverse has another major project on the way, and this one looks considerably different from what we’ve come to expect from the studio.

Nodusfall made its official debut during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live, where HoYoverse premiered the game’s first trailer and provided an early look at its world, combat, and enormous enemies.

Previously rumored under the codename “Genesis,” Nodusfall is being presented as a cooperative action game focused heavily on teamwork, tactical combat, and battles against powerful creatures.

And if the debut footage is anything to go by, Monster Hunter fans might want to keep this one on their radar.

Nodusfall Is HoYoverse’s New Co-Op Action Game

The Nodusfall world premiere trailer shows multiple protagonists battling massive creatures together, with the gameplay immediately drawing comparisons to the Monster Hunter series.

HoYoverse describes the central concept around players standing together against powerful beings, using close coordination and carefully planned tactics to bring them down.

That cooperative element appears to be at the heart of Nodusfall.

Rather than simply overwhelming enemies individually, the footage suggests players will need to coordinate their attacks and abilities during encounters with much larger opponents.

The trailer also includes narration providing some early hints about the game’s lore and mysterious fantasy setting, although HoYoverse is keeping many of the specifics under wraps for now.

Nodusfall is reportedly being developed using Unreal Engine 5, and the first gameplay footage certainly shows the studio aiming for a visually ambitious experience.

Nodusfall Was Previously Known as Project Genesis

While Gamescom represents the game’s proper public unveiling, Nodusfall hasn’t exactly remained a secret.

Nodusfall trademarks were registered earlier in 2026, while reports that the studio behind Genshin Impact was developing a fantasy MMO-style project stretch back even further.

The game was previously rumored to be operating under the codename Genesis.

Those early reports also suggested that HoYoverse was experimenting with several ambitious systems involving artificial intelligence.

Rumored features included an “Artificial Intelligence Simulated Ecosystem,” All-Terrain Battle AI, and intelligent NPC systems, although none of those features have been officially detailed as part of the Gamescom reveal.

It therefore remains unclear how much of the original Genesis concept has survived into the version of Nodusfall we’re seeing today.

Another interesting question surrounds monetization.

HoYoverse is synonymous with enormously successful games built around gacha mechanics, including Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. However, nothing shown during Nodusfall’s debut suggests that it will necessarily follow the same formula.

For now, the emphasis is firmly on cooperative action and large-scale monster encounters.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions, including its release date, platforms, progression systems, multiplayer structure, and exactly how large its world will be.

But after years of rumors surrounding HoYoverse’s mysterious new project, Nodusfall is finally official, and its first gameplay footage suggests the studio is heading into some very different territory.
