Marvel’s Wolverine is estimated to have sold 1.9 million copies in just three days, generating approximately $130 million in revenue, according to new data from Alinea Analytics.
The figures come from Rhy Elliot, Head of Market Analysis at Alinea Analytics, and should be treated as third-party estimates rather than official sales numbers from Sony or Insomniac Games.
According to the analysis, 22.9% of Wolverine’s estimated sales were physical copies, while the United States accounted for 53% of total sales. The UK represented 7%, followed by France at 5% and Canada at 4%.
Wolverine Reportedly Passes Death Stranding 2 on PS5
Alinea’s estimates also suggest that Wolverine has already surpassed the lifetime PS5 sales of Death Stranding 2, which the firm estimates at around 1.8 million copies.
Other PlayStation-related comparisons shared by Elliot include:
- MLB The Show: 1.5 million PS5 copies
- Saros: 510,000 PS5 copies
- Marathon: 1.8 million copies across all platforms
- Marvel Tōkon: 740,000 copies across all platforms
Based on those estimates, Marvel’s Wolverine would currently be the best-performing PlayStation Studios release of the year among the games compared by Alinea.
Strong Start for Insomniac’s Wolverine
Marvel’s Wolverine launched exclusively for PS5 on September 15, meaning the estimated 1.9 million sales were accumulated during its first three days on the market.
The early commercial estimates arrive alongside strong user reception on the PlayStation Store, despite a more mixed response from professional critics.
Neither Sony nor Insomniac Games has announced official Wolverine sales figures, so Alinea’s numbers remain estimates for now. Still, if they are close to the eventual official figures, Wolverine has started its commercial run at an impressive pace.
